RE: Camping in Texas?
Well I might as well weigh in to the conversation. I was born and raised in Austin and now live just of the outskirts. Austin is a great city and has beautiful lakes within 45 min to 1 1/2 hrs from there. There are campgrounds everywhere. Several things you should learn prior to getting here....always wave when passing another car on a smaller road....when speaking to a group of people always say "ya'll"....and my personal favorite saying....learn the meaning of "fixinto"....welcome to Texas!

Our dogs are with us all the time but once we had a pup that had to go to Texas A & M for cancer treatment that lasted a week. I had to go get him after 5 days because he refused to eat for anyone. He was so stressed at being left in a kennel that he just quit eating. Because of that experience I would vote for leaving her at home with someone checking on her at least once a day if not more.

Hey Campingshadow....where is Waskom??? We are in Pflugerville just outside of Austin and we were 102 today with a heat index of 202 I'm sure....it's so hot Mika and Suki (two long haired pekes) go outside to do their businesses and then come back in and flop down on the tile floors with all four legs spread out....sometimes when I come back inside I feel like doing the same thing!!!!

I don't think there will come a day when there are no more strays but....the inspiration of Old Fella will certainly cut down on that number by a lot. You should be so proud....and as far as talking to yourself....I'll bet there are a few "lurkers" out there. How can you follow our Old Fella!!! Any new antics with Miss Suzie or Charlie today? It's so hot here my girls are just lying on the cool tile in the house.

OUCH....kidney stones are really painful. Last year when Kim had a stone the doctor at the emergency room told him it was "a man's childbirth" and the way Kim was moaning it must have been really bad.....I'm so glad it passed...take care. I'm glad Charlie and Suzie have decided to be friends. We are really starting to get some wind here in central Texas with Miss Dolly hitting our coast. We are headed out in the motorhome tomorrow and I'm dreading this wind.

Boy that was really well said Richard. Old Fella changed many lives and I believe many lives to come. We will always have rescues whenever Mika & Suki cross over to the bridge and that is directly because of Old Fella. Before we only looked for pekingese puppies from a reputable breeder now we will look in pekingese rescue. The faithfulness dogs express is just amazing to me. Suki will be sound asleep somewhere and hear me leave the room and immediately get up and come to where I am and lie down to resume her nap. Mika on the other hand.....well Mika would expect me to go get her and carry her to my new room!!! LOL...Have a fun day and give Suzie a scratch on the head and toss the ball once to Charlie for me.

Wellll..... tears in my coffee cup have become the norm while I'm reading the Old Fella forum. What a sweet gesture for them to include the paw print picture. I would have loved to have that with our Bootie's ashes.
Little Suzie is a sneaky little girl isn't she!!! I'm glad everything is going good with the both of them and before you know it she will be just as attached to Charlie as she was to Old Fella.

Yippee...I was holding my breath all afternoon waiting for your post after the trip to the vet. I'm so glad Charlie has become a member of the Daniel's clan. I truly believe he was sent by Old Fella as once again there is a smile on our faces as we hear of the daily news of now Charlie, Suzie, Izzie, Sue & Richard.
Wow GizmosMom...we have been to Choke Canyon many times and I never knew there were alligators there. With all the wild life in that park that would be yummy dinners for them I'm really surprised there aren't signs warning the campers.

Great pictures Richard....looks like Suzie was liking the water as long as her feet were on the ground...did she ever swim? Charlie looked so content in that one picture...that is a beautiful park....we'll have to put that on our list of places to go to if we are ever able to travel that far again!!!
